I have struggled to output any videos in a few months now. So I thought in the mean time I could try and get this video uploaded. This is the latest video production made of MAF PNG back in 2007. We show this video when explaining about MAF when ministering with the MAF ministry team. It does make me laugh sometimes seeing friends and colleagues in this video. But hope it gives a good general perspective and reminder of MAF’s operations in PNG.

03 Mar 2009 / Blog, MAF ministry team, Videos
This video was originally put together quickly as an update video for my home church. It has been finally tided up a bit. I guess this shows an example of what the MAF ministry team gets up to, normally on a Friday or Saturday night. Unfortunately some really good action footage did not turn out, but all the same I hope this gives you a glimpse of ministry here in PNG. In this video we attend the village called Pontus, where there had been four years of tribal fighting with their neighboring village and about twenty people killed. We drive out in the middle of nowhere to spend the night at this remote village after a big week in the hanger to minster to these people.

The first post in a while is a video made last year. One evening returning home from a cold dirty day at work. I come home to find no running water. So on the moment I made a little video of the event. The only thing missing is the air clearing from the water in violent surges, enjoy.

There are quite a few video projects to be done. I will try my best to keep them coming every few weeks. This one is from POC, where we would do a weekly hike around the mountain that we were staying on and surrounding mountains. Where we were hiking was only 5 degrees from the Equator. So it was quite hot in the sun and to add to that it was quite humid being in the tropical lowlands. It was also very steep at parts and difficult when wet. But it was a lot of fun, and was training leading up to longer hikes, the main one being a three day hike. The week I filmed this, we splitted up into two groups and did the trial in opposite directions. So we passed each other about half way. This trial was the back of the mountain, so you don’t get to see any of the awesome scenery of the coast. I didn’t make time to make subtitles, but you can use you imagination, hope you like it.

Last Wednesday after finding out about having to move so suddenly, I quickly filmed a tour around part of the compound after work. It has been a video that I had been meaning to try and film for some time. It doesn’t really show compound life that well and is just a quick tour. But hope it gives some idea of it and you enjoy it.

This video I made while at MAF orientation back in January in Melbourne. It is a picture slide show of my 4 week short term trip to PNG back in late 2005. I have added it, as it is not on the new site. Hopefully it will be out done with my new MAF PNG video project in progress.

For those who have not seen this video. This was made by my good mate Andy for my farewell back in early May. Quite a video to have made for one self as a farewell gift and shown at your commissioning service. Thanks again Andy.

Finally have another video finished after having a few technical problems. This video is on our construction of our Haus Kuk and a tour around it at POC. We built this the second weekend of the course, the first day we spent nine hours and the following Saturday maybe four hours constructing it. Our Haus Kuk gained a reputation for having advanced features, from our kitchen sink to a flower vase. We spent every weekend using the Haus Kuk after construction to prepare our meals and to dine. It’s purpose being to prepare us for the living conditions in a village. All we had available was a wooden fire, kerosene and a kerosene stove (which we didn’t really use) for cooking on (plus the drum oven). So it was interesting experience living this way, but I love the kitchen I now have in Mt Hagen.

My commissioning service was on back on the 4th of May. This is a short video of it, thanks Andy! It would have to be one of the most special days of my life to date. I am posting it for those of you who don’t go to the youth website, enjoy.

I originally put his video together after the trip, to be used for debrief the following Monday at POC. I haven’t changed too much, there are a few in jokes in it and I can’t comment on different parts like we did at the debrief. But I hope it gives a bit of a look into the trip we had just days before the team from America arrived to build this home kit. If you have any questions just ask, and there’s more info on the previous month’s blog entry and in the last newsletter. On the first day and last day, there is some footage of us travelling to and from the village along the Rai Coast Highway (which is less than a normal suburban street back home!). The rest covers us at the two villages and travelling to them. Sangom where we picked up the home kit and the village Bang where we transported it too, worked and stayed. So in all it covers different parts of the trip, with plenty of River Crossings. It gives a real example of what transportation is like in PNG at its least challenging. From this trip I really gained more of an appreciation of the work we do and the need of MAF. And Mum I would probably encourage you not to watch this video.
